TOTEM and the Red Cross strengthen emergency coverage in Cantabria ahead of the beach season

Cantabria, 21 de julio de 2026

The company is making one of its existing masts in Santoña available to the Cantabrian Red Cross to host the organisation’s emergency radio communication equipment. This collaboration strengthens civilian safety in the region without the need for new construction work, making full use of existing infrastructure.

TOTEM Spain and the Spanish Red Cross (Cruz Roja Española) have reached a collaboration agreement to host the organisation’s emergency radio communication equipment on one of the company's masts in Santoña (Cantabria). This measure strengthens the coverage of the Red Cross safety operations just before the start of the beach season, one of the busiest periods for its emergency teams in the region.

Thanks to this agreement, the Red Cross will install its communication equipment on TOTEM’s already operational infrastructure, avoiding the need to build a new mast. This solution capitalises on the space and height already available at the site to improve the reach of emergency communications in the area.

The partnership is part of TOTEM’s strategy to put its infrastructure at the service of uses that extend beyond mobile connectivity, sharing already deployed masts with bodies and organisations that provide essential services to the public. With this agreement, TOTEM and the Red Cross reinforce their joint commitment to civilian safety in Cantabria, anticipating the coverage needs brought about by the increase in coastal activity during the summer months.

Patrick Farges, CEO of TOTEM Spain, noted that: "This collaboration with the Red Cross is a clear example of how our infrastructure can generate value beyond mobile connectivity. Optimising the use of what we have already deployed allows us to contribute to civilian safety without the need for new construction work, and that is precisely the kind of impact we aim to deliver."
